I almost have my entire common app application ready (including the essay, already reviewed by guidance). The rec letters are in the guidance office, and I have the high school transcript request form sitting at my desk. (I'm sooooo close!) But I keep hearing that if you are not a stellar student when applying to a college, your chances with early action will actually be less than regular decision because there is a more competitive applicant pool. Is this true? I am not applying to any of the Ivies or any absurdly selective schools. I am applying though to University of Miami and New College. (My top two choices. Being a FL resident gives me a BIG chances boost at New College too.)

Also, getting the grades from the first semester of senior year could possibly help me. (It is a long story, but every semester, my GPA goes up about .1 of a point or so, because my freshman year schedule wasn't nearly as weighted as my senior year schedule is.)

Is it worth it to apply early action, or should my app collect dust until regular decision? Thanks!
