Should I Consider Transfering?

I’m considering transfering to another undergrad business program. I’ll be a freshman at Isenberg as well as part of the Honors college. I’m sure i’ll love UMass but if i can get into a better business program why not go? Are Binghamton, Boston Univeristy, Lehigh, and Northeastern any better than UMass’ Isenberg? Excited for UMass but if a better opportunity presents itself i’ll take it. Is it worth it?

give umass a chance, isenberg is an awesome business school, if you find yourself genuinely not happy nor satisfied with the academics, then try to transfer

@laurrodes i definitely am gonna give it a chance. Seems like a great place. I was just wondering if these other schools would be better in terms of acadmeics. If not, then i’d be more than happy to stay at UMass. Excited for the year to start!

Since the other poster didn’t really answer your question, I might as well try to. Now, don’t take all these rankings too deeply since again, like @laurrodes said, Isenberg is an awesome business school and pretty highly ranked. In the end, it’s also what you make of the situation. You could be in the world’s best business school, but if you don’t take full advantage of it, going there would be useless.
Northeastern’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business would be the highest ranked in the schools that you have listed, and right after that would be BU’s Questrom School of Business. Both of these schools will give Isenberg a run for its money. As for Binghamton’s business school, Isenberg outranks it by far. I’m not sure about Lehigh however, as I hadn’t really looked into it when I was applying for colleges myself. Also, other schools to consider if you’re dead set on pursuing Business would be Bentley and BC’s Carroll School of Management. As those are both in MA and are even higher ranked than BU’s and Northeastern’s business schools. I actually got into Bentley myself, however, since I was planning on pursing a dual degree, I had to turn down the offer since the are exclusively a business-centered institution.
As for personal preferences, my top choices would be either Bentley, BC, or Northeastern. From what I’ve gathered, they seem to be the best for job placement as well as their large networking systems in place for Business majors. Also, since Bentley is a business-centered school, they will be able to put all their resources in order to help you later on.
In the end, it is your call, but Isenberg would be a great place to stay for your undergrad degree if you decide to not transfer.

@BladeHunter Thanks for your response! I’m gonna make the most of Isenberg, it’s just if I can get into somewhere better and that univeristy can offer me more, why not go? I appreciate your imput and I can’t wait to start school at UMass! Maybe i’ll see you around.

Why not go? Let’s see…because without financial aid, all those schools will end up costing $150K more over four years. If $$ is not an issue, then fine but Isenberg has a great reputation and provides a quality business-based education. I have two nieces who graduated from AMA (one Isenberg and the other honors college); one walked into a job that is now paying six figures in her 4th year (without any additional education) and the other, while making less money, secured a really fun job that provides loads of travel opportunities. You can’t go wrong with Isenberg IMHO.

@NEPatsGirl thank you for your response. If I do opt to transfer I will take account into financial aid and the costs compared to UMass.

@steven4998 Hahah yeah, no problem! I’m not sure if people in the honors college take that Isenberg Introduction seminar, but if you guys do, then we probably will see eachother.
