Well, I might be paranoid. I really want to get into a college, but on my facebook, I added someone who is a current student at that college. What if the admissions officers of that college check my facebook profile through her? Should I delete her on my facebook? I have nothing bad on my facebook and if they do check it, I don't think they would hurt my chance. But I'm just being paranoid. Is there a possibility that they would check my facebook through her?

I think you’re being paranoid. I hardly think that admissions officers are going to ask that student to let them use her Facebook account to check up on you. And if you have nothing bad on there, why would it be a problem if they did?

IF schools were using current students to check out potential students, don’t you think at least one of those current students would have kicked up a fuss, and the world would have heard about it?

Also how does that work, exactly? students with no connection at the potential school would be at an advantage or a disadvantage because the adcoms could not vet them?

If you think you are being paranoid it is time to allow your logical abilities to kick in.

I doubt they would get a hold of your FB through your friend’s but even if they could it might even help you a tiny bit.

Related question: A few colleges that I’ve gotten into have sent me a link to their facebook group to connect with other students. If I join, the adcoms to access my Facebook, right? Nothing bad on it, but I’m a little leary.

101mutts: They won’t be able to see anything beyond what you have marked as public, which they could see anyway. Only your friends can see private information. (If that is how you have your settings).

Definitely delete her, admissions offices are known for hacking the Facebook accounts of current students and using them to dig through the lives of prospective applicants.
