Hello! So basically I’m a junior, and last year I took the ACT, got a 32, then this year Feb I got a 34, and then this most recent (June) ACT I got a 32 again… (my science and english dropped by 6 and 3 points respectively) I did not hope it would be this way so I would definitely delete it … however, my June act had a high score in math, and that math will boost up my superscore to a 35 Composite. So I’m in a dilemma in whether I should delete it or not-- I think it’ll be helpful in the superscore colleges that I’m interested but is it detrimental for colleges that require all testing history (because I’m interested in 1 or 2 of those colleges as well–such as Yale)? Does Yale consider the highest score? I did worse on my last try so I could retake it again September but I don’t want to take test 4 times (unless I delete this June ACT) as I heard it is hurting your chances. Any thoughts are much appreciated… Thank you guys!
What were the subscores in the June test? Can you wait till the September result to make a decision?
It would help to know the subscores from all three sittings. Are you applying to many schools that superscore?
Yale requires all tests. They don’t superscore. There is no point canceling in the slim hope that you might get into Yale. If you cancel one, you have to cancel the other. Why do that? Many colleges will be thrilled with a 35 superscore, so submit the tests to all of your schools.
@annamom I would wait until September but I’m afraid the canceling wouldn’t come in time before college apps. I heard canceling takes up to 2 months…
@Jennings99 I’m applying more to schools that superscore I believe. Do schools that superscore look at all our composite scores as well? Or do they don’t bother with that and only filter out the best scores…? Thanks!
@Lindagaf I would cancel for Yale though because my composite for the two consecutive tests fell 2 points and ik it is terrible for any colleges. But superscore makes it rise 1 point. I just don’t know which one is worth it more… for colleges to superscore to 35 or for them to see that my composite for individual tests to drop from 34 to 32 thanks!
yes, it is a risk, but do you plan to apply Yale ED?
The tricky thing is that we don’t know how it looks on the college’s side. It seems like there would be a summary page that shows the highest score of whatever the school uses (composite or superscore). Then maybe a detail page that shows all of the scores that have been submitted. @lookingforward might know. I have always read that colleges don’t hold a lower section score against you if you achieved a decent section score in that area on another sitting.
