Should I do a Learning Community?

I am not sure where to put this, so sorry if it has to be moved. I am going to UNC Charlotte in the fall, and I am going to be a part of the HPIA Learning Community and the Honors College. The LC is for History, Political Science, and International Affairs majors. I put political science as my major on my application, but I actually am undecided about what I want to major in. At first I thought I wanted to do it, but since I go into the Honors College, and am not sure what I want to major in, I have second guessed myself. The Honors College and the LC are compatible. What do you guys think?

I don’t know anything about UNC in particular, but the LC-like program at my college was the best part of my experience (20 years ago). I ended up majoring in a related topic, but I have plenty of friends who didn’t and still loved the experience. I say go for it.

Thanks. Does anyone else have an opinion?

You are not commiting to a major just by enrolling in a learning community. It’s typically a good first year experience, and I recommend it without knowing anything specific about teh UNCC program.

Go niners!

As long as you have an interest in the learning community’s focus, it doesn’t have to be your major. Lots of people change majors. It’s a way to develop a peer group on campus. I wouldn’t be surprised to find other people in the honors program in the learning community.
