Should i do ACT or SAT?

I need to decide which of those to take now as i neeed to order books. I tried out an entire math section of one of the past SAT test and got a 660 (I'm a sophmore who is a strong maths student. Is that good or bad?) I also did some of the questions from the CR reading section and didn't do so great. I did adequently on the writing questions i tried out. I'm guessing the SAT isn't for me?

I did many practice questions on the ACT website and they seemed a lot better. I did MUCH better on them and i actually loved the style of the questions as everything was straight forward. Plus, doing the ACT saves me the hassle of having to memorize ton's of vocab which i am not looking forward to doing AT ALL.

Here's the thing, i've already bought a lot of SAT books (over $100's worth) before realising that i have the option of doing the ACT. Which honestly seems like its the standardized test i'd likely do better in. Do you think i should study from the SAT books in the summer and try out the SAT? Or should i invest in ACT books (which do you recommend) and study from those? Money isn't an issue if your wondering. I need to order the books now because i am an International student - ACT books aren't sold where i live.

Thanks for the help!

I forgot to mention that i’ll be studying for the PSAT simultaneously. In which case, it’d be preferable for me to take the SAT since both tests are similar.

Bump. Anyone???

yes, ACT books will help since the questions are different that SAT questions.

ACT is a time test, particularly the Science section. Make sure that you practice with a timer when you take the tests.

GL

@bluebayou Thanks for the tips but you haven’t exactly answered my question as i was asking whether it’d be better for me to do the SAT or ACT based upon what i stated above.

Can anyone else contribute?

Why not do both? Depending if you’re a sophomore or junior you can take one test this year, then the other test next year.

@EmBio10 I’m a sophmore. Sure it would be ideal to try out both but considering i have 12 exams (IGCSE - British curriculum) this year which pretty much dictate which colleges i can apply to, i think it’d be best to focus my energy on studying for those exams (which i should be doing now but…procrastination).

Since i live abroad, the closest ACT test centre is in another city. So i’d need to plan accordingly to take the ACT as travel costs are involved.
