Should I do running start?

So I am a sophmore right with a 3.44 cumulative gpa (Honors in english and history, ahead in math, and taking AP BIO this year) now in highschool and plan to take running start next year.
1) So my first question is should I do part time runnig start or full time? (Running start is going to a community college your junior and senior year so you can recieve highschool and college credits) I am thinking of doing part time running start because full time would be too hard for me since you do a years worth of work in one semester. If I was to do part time, I would probably take UW chemistry and AP Calculas at my highschool and take English 101 and some easy class like statistics or something at my CC. What do you guys think about this plan? Is it good or bad.

2) My second questions is that if I do running start in highschool but get my AA degree a YEAR after highschool because I will be doing part time my junior year, will I apply as a freshman or transfer student. If I apply as a transfer student would colleges only look at my CC grades and not consider my highschool, and the fact that I took running start.

3) Finally, my last question is what is the chance I have at UW. I will be getting my major in Computer Science. If I dont make it to UW would going a degree in WSU be less than compared to a degree from UW when applying for jobs?
Sat Score- Hopefully 1800
Gpa- Hopefully around 3.44 by the time I graduate
Clubs- Will join 2 clubs my Junior and Senior year
NO sports or anything

and oh ya almost forgot, how do I record my volunteer hours and put that on my transcript? Do i have to get a paper from my highschool or what. And cant you just fake it and pretend like you did some community service?

Thank you soooooooooooooo much for your info!! I really need it and I'm sure other people also need it. Thanks again (:

Sorry for the misseplling, i was kind of in a hurry. Any advice will help!

I’m gonna assume you’re a WA resident? I’m currently doing RS and it’s totally worth it. I’m doing part-time right now because I have to get my last math and foreign language credit, but i’m still taking the max amount of credits (20= 4 classes) at my local CC.

My counselors and advisors warned me that it was gonna be extremely hard and my GPA would probably drop and i’d regret taking all of these classes, but i’m excelling and my lowest grade is an 83%.

I like it because its fast paced and straightfoward.

I’d do chem at the college. you basically learn the same info, but it’s done faster. i’m taking college chem right now and it’s great. i’m also taking an art class, intro to fiction class and history class.

If you don’t graduate with an AA and apply to colleges with your RS credits, you’ll be considered a freshman. Even if you get you AA in HS they will consider your high school grades still. But if you graduate, get your AA and THEN apply to schools, I don’t think your HS grades will be considered.

I’ve personally visited both and have friends and family that go to both so i have a pretty good feel for both, and WSU definitely trumps UW. everyone says UW is more superior to them in academics, but thats not true. Sure, better applicants get into UW instead of WSU, but the schooling isn’t very much different. and i’m my opinion, UW is simply too big, too impersonal and unsafe. And a lot of the classes are taught by TA’s. I like WSU a lot better. Especially since you said you don’t have very many EC’s or anything. And i’m not familiar with either of their comp sci programs, but honestly if you graduate with a good GPA, it shouldn’t really matter what school you went to.

I don’t think you can record community service hours on your transcript. But most schools including those two have supplements where you can show your EC’s and volunteer stuff. And I suppose you could lie about community service, but if you lie and say oh, I did 500 hours of community service and it doesn’t match with what your counselor or teacher said in their recommendation and it doesn’t add up with your other EC’s, then they’ll find out you’re lying.

Hope this helps and if you have any questions please PM me!

Thanks for the info, but i think chemistry would probably be easier at hs because your spreading the unit through the whole year. But what if i get bad grades at my community college, then I will have 0 chance at UW and probably not get a top notch computer science job because of my college gpa. And why would the college ask my teacher and counselor if i am doing the community service if i am doing it on my own time, like during the summer. Thanks again
