I would like to know if it would be ok to send an adcom an email saying that you will attend if you are admitted and that the college is your first choice college. Does it increase my chances of admission?
and if i do send such an email how do i word it ?
please help me out
especially if you had applied ed and got rejeceted, and you want to let the admission officers know that it is still your first choice college. (which is the case)

If you get rejected ED, you cannot apply to the same school in the same year again RD. Or at least I haven't heard of a school with different policies yet.

b@rum! is right about ED policy...if you got deferred, then you can reapply, but that's the only way.

i would say don't do it as a separate thing. if it comes up in an interview, go for it. if there's a question on the app (which you probably already filled out), go ahead. but a separate email...idk how that would be taken. what class of school are we talking here?

oh i guess all of you are not familiar to CMU's policy. Since CMU has many colleges , if you apply ED to one of them and get rejected you are allowed to apply any other college at CMU except the one you got rejected at ED.
Now can can someone please advise me?
I thought sending an email saying CMU was still my first choice even though i got rejected would be ok..thats why i asked wether i can do it.

lol you just said it yourself...you cant send a letter to the same college cause its useless...and secondly sending a letter wont help you much if your applying rd...because its rd

I wrote in my additional information that my EA college was my first choice, and if admitted, I would attend. I don't know if that "did it," but I got in... :-)

See, i got rejected ED to CIT at CMU with low scores. I got higher scores and applied RD to SCS. I want to know if there is a wy of telling them that SCS is my first choice and that I will attend if admitted?
