I got into Boston University and will be attending this fall. I applied as a BME major because it brought together my interests in biology with engineering, but now i’m hearing that it’s pretty difficult to find a job with just a BS in BME because you end up being a “jack of all trades but master of none.” So I figured that if I double major in BME and ME, that would address a lot of the problems employers have with BMEs. Or would it just be more convenient to major in ME and minor in BME?
Major in ME. Supplement with electives in biology/BME as desired. Get an MS in BME or other engineering discipline if desired.
A minor will be of little or no benefit, and trying to double major in ME and BME seems silly, especially since it would likely require you to spend extra time–time that would be infinitely better spent getting an MS.
