Should I drop AP Calculus AB? Please help!

I plan on majoring in nursing. I’m currently taking 2 AP’s this year (senior year): AP Chem and AP Calc AB. I currently have a D+ (69) in Chem and a 79 in Calc. Even though my grade in Calc is currently better, it’s causing me much more stress than chem because the teacher and class are very intense, and we’ll be having many pop quizzes in the future. I’ve also been spending more time on calc than chem, which is probably why I am failing my chem tests. If I drop Calc AB, I will probably get into regular calculus. I took AP Stats already in my junior year.

I realize that in nursing, chemistry is much more important than calculus. Would it make sense for me to drop AP Calc? It would definitely take out much of the stress in my life right now. How would this look to admissions officers? I’m applying to USF (Early Action or Decision) UCI, UCLA, SDSU, and CSUF, so my senior grades won’t factor into their admissions decisions.

I’m very stressed out right now, I would really appreciate advice. Thanks in advance!

I would drop Calc AB and put your all into that Chem.

Colleges will look at your final senior grades so you don’t want Ds or Fs. Also I think they might know your current grades. Someone should confirm that though.

I don’t see a problem dropping down in calculus – especially if you haven’t submitted your applications indicating your senior year coursework. If you have submitted applications then you will have to notify the colleges that you dropped down a level in calc.
