So at the beginning of the school year, my class started out with 12 students, then after the first week, it dropped to 6. Now, at the end of the 1st semester, it is just going to be 3 students, 2 if I were to drop. I can't decide if I want to drop this class or not. The class is super hard and the teacher is mean and doesn't teach us. We have to come in an hour early before school at least twice a week for lab or tests. The homework is grueling and takes up all of my time. I hate this class, but with the grade inflation, I will probably end this semester with a B. I want to drop, but I also want to get AP credit. I figure that I should just stick it out since I've already learned half of the material, but this class is the low point of my day and causes me too much stress. I'm already taking three other AP Classes: AP English, AP Environmental Science, and AP US Government. I also am involved in several extracurriculars. How bad would it look if I dropped this class halfway through the year? If I do drop, should I self study and take the AP Chem exam? Or should I just grit my teeth and stick it out? I'm really indecisive about this and schedule changes for next semester are due tomorrow. Thank you for your help! :)

Well, if your teacher does not even teach you and you’re just burdened down with tons of excess homework, I see no problem in dropping the class… it will relieve a lot of pressure that isn’t really getting you anywhere. However if you do want to finish AP Chem, go ahead… but keep in mind you probably aren’t getting the full education you need to be getting in that class, and may be worth just setting it off until college where you have more resources to combat bad teachers.
