I’ve talked this out with my guidance counselor, Chemistry department supervisor, and guidance supervisor and I’ve come to the conclusion that I was not ready for the class and said that they would recommend I drop the class. It has caused me severe anxiety, I have lost countless hours of sleep, I’ve woken up every day at 5:30 just to get extra help for this class but it has taken a physical toll on me and I just can’t manage with my other AP and Engineering classes.
I’ve called all the schools I was considering such as OSU, Delaware, Penn State, Purdue, Stevens Institute, and Virginia Tech. Every school said that since I was already accepted based off of Junior Year performance dropping the class should not be an issue. But here is my concern, my top choice is Purdue. I got contradictory answers from several admissions counselors that got me very confused. They already accepted me without ever receiving my Semester 1 grades, and if I withdraw from this class it would be seen as a “Withdrawal Pass” which I guess is better than staying in the class and running the risk of failing it since the teacher has it in for me. They said that I could drop it since I already took 6 semesters of lab science (AP Chemistry is considered an elective for me since I already took the required sciences.) But I was wondering if Purdue’s Engineering college requires 4 years of science?
This is beginning to freak me out because my 2nd choice, Virginia Tech, said that they only accepted me based on AP Chemistry and if I dropped it they would revoke my acceptance to the Engineering College. This scared me even more because I’ve always been an A/B student who’s taken as many AP’s and Honors courses as I could…so this one class could jeopardize me entire future. I’m not so much worried about Virginia Tech at this point because I cannot run the risk of staying in the class, failing, then having them revoke my admissions in mid summer. Does anyone know the likelyhood of having my admissions to Purdue revoked? Because if what they told me wasn’t true and they do decide to revoke my admission…i don’t know what I will do anymore.
tl;dr Does Purdue require 4 years of science, and If I drop a 4th year science course will Purdue revoke my admission?
