Hi everyone,
I have done okay in honors and ap english language from previous years (As). However, this year ap lit is totally weighing down my gpa. I'm a senior in high school with aps including ap chem, ap calc bc, ap spanish, and ap lit. The teacher grades us really harshly on participation and I'm really shy with discussions. I also don't like talking in front of class and when I talk it's just really awkward. My average is a 90 right now (A-) and this is my lowest grade. I have a lot of work from my other classes and don't plan on majoring in english. Will it look bad if I dropped ap english senior year even though I did well in english from previous years?

If it makes you feel any better, I am applying early to U-M CoE and I have a B in AP Lit. Our AP lit teachers are notorious for giving out low grades: only one person in my class has an A. I looked at your chance thread and we have pretty much the same stats and EC’s. I stuck with AP Lit because I think it makes me more well rounded than the typical prospective engineering student.

My daughter’s AP lit class had online discussions, could you approach your teacher with the possibility of doing some of these?
