Should I drop APUSH with current load???

I have never been in an AP class and I am a junior this year (starting in a little over a week). Lately I have been getting nervous because I am signed up for 3 APs, 2 Honors, and 1 standard class. My APs are Biology, Chemistry, and APUSH. I want to get into a top 200 university with a 2000+ SAT and 3.5+ GPA UW. This year I also have to focus on studying hard for the SAT, and keeping 2 EC's. Would it be wise to downgrade history to honors or should I keep AP?? Can anyone fill me in on how much work you get per day for each of these classes I just listed? In case you need to know the other classes are honors english, and algebra 2 with standard spanish.

I think you should keep APUSH. The three APs that you are doing are going to be standard APs that pretty much everyone has taken at a top school. Junior year should be the most important year for you since, college apps start next year for you. For SAT, you have until the Oct/Nov test your senior year before the last time you take them, so you still have time, especially over the summer.

So, to sum up. Don't drop APUSH, and you can study hard for the SAT during the summer or during school breaks (but that doesn't mean don't study for the SAT, study a little bit everyday, that helps)

If you're feeling overwhelmed, or you want free time outside of studying, don't be afraid to drop US History. It was one of the harder APs I took, and required a lot of outside reading. You already have a very challenging schedule, so don't feel like you have to kill yourself studying to meet some impossible quota.

All of the APs are obviously going to require a lot of work. If you're willing to dedicate a lot of time to school, then take all 3, else I suggest dropping one of the sciences.

I agree with Post #2, but truly, you can get into a Top 200 University with only 2 APs.

so how much work per day will these 3 AP's give me?

dont complain. i already started school, im taking the same APs, HNs, and standard class. for AP im taking Spanish, English, and US History and for HNs im taking Physics and Trigonometry. my regular is photography. being the fifth or sixth week of school (i forgot what week were on), the homework is not as much as i thought i wouldve thought. but my schedule is packed though so u may not have a life for a year haha. my schedule is school, sport, leave that sport and go to soccer practice, get home and do the work till 10 and thats it. anyways to answer ur ?, u should stick with APUSH. itll help. and besides, narrow ur top 200 universities. its easy to get into a top 200 university unless if u mistaken for top 20.

Those are some pretty tough APs, but i think a lot of it depends on the teacher. So take a look, maybe one of your AP teachers is really lax and doesn't give much hw. Or maybe all 3 give excruciating amounts of hw. at that point, it's really your call.

Self-studying APUSH is easy. I say drop it.

APUSh is easy to score high on- since a TON of people take it (a lot of whom are not prepared at all) they skew the curve, so a lower percent correct will get you a higher score than the same percentage on, say AP Calc BC. I say keep it. At least at my school it wasn't that much more work that the regular US history.

Taking AP Bio and AP USH at the same time is not conducive to sleep
hours. If you will be a science concentrator in college do USH else
do Bio. This might show some balance?

In my junior year I did 5 APs including Calc BC, PHY C Mech, USH, etc.
I did make sure not to take Bio the same time as USH though.

My USH experience was quite unenjoyable despite having a great
teacher. You can get a 5 but you will have to toil for it. Bio was way
more enjoyable and fun in my senior year.
