Should I drop German? Will it look bad on my transcript?

Should I? I could take another academic class in place of it but will it look back if I quit/drop a foreign language? I don't hate German, but I could easily do without it! I got a B- last semester--I'm doing exceptionally well this semester but it got me thinking--should I quit? :/
My dream schools are the University of Michigan or Northwestern University! :)

no! don’t quit! there’s nothing better than an upward trend and if you can do exceptionally better this semester, it looks much better than giving up on it!

Good luck :)

Before you drop a core course, or a core course in a sequence, make sure that you’re not compromising the minimum/recommended course requirement for the colleges to which you’re planning to apply.

Foreign language is a core course. The typical requirement for selective colleges is 3 years of a single foreign language, and many such colleges recommend four. Both your dream colleges are selective and may have this requirement. Depth in core subjects is a strong plus in college application … so it often pays to exceed the minimum.

The argument that you’ll have a higher GPA if you take a course other than German is not compelling for selective colleges. They are looking for you to take the most rigorous courses available in your school (and ideally do very well in them).

Thanks! any more advice?

It depends a lot on how many years of German you’ve taken, and what year you are in school.

You should shoot for four years of foreign language for both of those schools. That’ll really be more important than the slight GPA drop.
