I'm doing my math hw right now for math16A and I'm having a hard time solving the problems, most of it is a pre calc review, which I learned in my junior year( got an A), and I remember how to do it, but i'm just really BAD at math. Math 32 is full and there are 14 people on the waitlist, if I sign up for it can i get into the class? would math 32 help me? I know the stuff and I remember most of it, but math is just hard for me.
Do you think I should stick with math 16A and use all the resources at the SLR? I was thinking about studying really hard and trying my best and if that doesn't work take it P/NP and retake it in the spring? what do you guys think?

Did you try the on-line placement test referenced here?

Stick with 16A imo if you’ve done precalc.

It’s also important to look at your major; is it a math-related major? Does it have a lot of pre-reqs that will make it difficult to take a year off to focus on Math 32 first?

In my opinion, if you say you know and remember the stuff, you should try sticking with 16A; if you know the stuff but still have difficulty, that may be OK. Just make sure you stay on track with studying, get help from your GSI and form study groups, and if you still need it, use other SLC resources available. You got an A in precalc before; if you stick to it, maybe it’ll all come back amd you’ll see you won’t have such a hard time…? :)

Thanks everyone your advice! I decided to take math 32, math 16A is the only math class I need for my major and putting it off a semester won’t hurt me.
