should i drop my sport ?

i’m currently on the tennis team and i find that it takes up a lot of time, often until 5-6 pm everyday. should i drop my sport? i’m doing fine with it right now with 1 ap class but i’m going to take 4 ap classes next year. i like the sport but i’m willing to drop it if necessary. how will colleges perceive this? is it worth it?

If you really like it, do not drop it. Colleges want you to have AP but they also want a well rounded person, meaning you are involved with other things besides academics. If you’ve got a ton of other extra curriculars, then it would be ok to drop.

If you don’t like it, don’t do it.

It depends on your other commitments. Is it your only EC? Then I personally would not drop it, because you don’t want to be seen as an academic drone by college admission officers. If it is something you don’t particularly care about and you have other activities, then it is fine to drop.

As for juggling sports with many APs, I have seen many of my peers do it successfully. I managed 4 APs with having 2-hour play rehearsal every day and running 3 clubs among other activities. What matters most is your time management ability.
