Due to personal reasons and a sudden shift in my work schedule, I am considering dropping my dual enrollment class that I am taking at a local community college (college algebra; I originally wanted to take biology, but the classes were full; the counselor then recommended that I sign up for a math class instead. In hindsight, I should have waited until next semester). I haven’t had a chance to talk to a counselor about it, and I won’t have the chance to do so until Monday (1/22), which is the last “academic grace drop period.” I have emailed my instructor about it.
My biggest concern is how a “W” will look on my transcript. I’ve heard there’s a chance it won’t even show up at all if I drop within the first week, but I want to consider the worst possible outcome. Of course, the “W” would most likely hurt my financial aid eligibility. Should I wait until Monday to see a counselor, or drop the class right away online (at the risk of receiving a “W”)?
