Should I drop Physics?

I am a senior and currently have only 2 years of science not including Physics which I am currently taking. My teacher said that if you get a C or below on the first test you should drop the class because it will only get harder (the drop would not show on my transcript because the semester has just started). I haven’t gotten the test back but am positive I got below a C. The lessons have been pretty tough for me and I believe that the BEST I can get by the end of the year is a C. My concern is that UCs and many other colleges recommend at least 3 years of lab science.

Should I follow his advice? How much do actual senior grades matter in the admissions process versus the rigor of my schedule?

My weighted GPA is a 3.75 and I plan on applying to mostly UCs or some equivalents,

Thanks

P.S. How do I reply to individuals on this forum?

Senior year grades are not used for admissions to the UCs but will be used to rescind people who don’t keep their grades up. A D would definitely fall under that. Do you have other science options?

I suggest you talk with your school guidance counselor about this. Dropping a course won’t look as bad as getting a low low grade, but not having enough science will hurt you as well.

Talk to your guidance counselor. On one hand you don’t want a D on your transcript as it could lead to an acceptance being rescinded. But it will leave you very light on the sciences and if you have submitted applications already you would have to notify schools that you dropped physics. Is there an easier level of physics you can switch into?
