im taking dance history right now and i just got back my 1st exam and i got a 22 out of 30..which is 73 percent. ive gotten only A's and B's so far, and this is the 1st time where im facing a C as a grade. theres extra credit for 10 points which im going to do which will basically give me a 32 out of 30 though..but im just not sure if i should keep going to class or drop it to be safe..deadline to drop is this sunday so im not sure..can u guys give me your opinions on this situation?? thank you

the grading goes like this…

Exam #1-----------------30 pts.

Exam #2-----------------30 pts.

Exam #3-----------------30 pts.

Extra Credit--------------10 pts. Extra Credit

Final---------------------35 pts.

Essay-------------------35 pts.

Video Essay-------------20 pts.

Total: 180 + Extra Credit

u need 162 points to get an A. what else do u need others to tell you? it’s ur decision

hmm yah u got a good point, but im just not good at decision making in these types of situations… but thanks for letting me know i need exactly a 162 though

u need to get 87.5% in everything else to get an A

I would not drop it unless you think you will get a grade lower than a C, but that is just me though. Study more if you are worried; it is dance history for god’s sake!

yah i think i should just keep attending…i cant give up on a class like dance history thanks for your opnion bigshow

Reminds me of my Art History class that I took last semester. Professor knew that a majority of the students were in the class because they thought it was an easy ‘A’. She deliberately made the midterms and the final ridiculously hard and graded really harshly on the 5 page research paper. It was hilarious seeing only around 20/60 or so students left after the ‘W’ deadline.

what i hate is that in the test she puts the choices:

“ALL OF THE ABOVE AND NONE OF THE ABOVE”

Irx: that is how most of my classes are. Not all of them, but most of them. I feel bad for the physics/math/engineering majors at my school (more specifically campus). The physics professor there is hardcore; probably harder than most colleges. Every semester, only like 6 people pass and 1-2 get A’s. I personally know many people who took him 2-3 times before they passed with a C.

haha I know where your coming from. Thats the worst. If you decide to keep up with it and want an easy way of knowing what you have to do to keep a grade check this out

[Amazing Grade Calculator](http://www.conquercollege.com/gradecalc/)

Awesome resource. Keeps me on my shizz :)

when in doubt, mark C on the test. i wouldn’t have a 4.0 if i didn’t know that

scrsk8: that tool is really nice. I usually use excel to calculate my grade.

@bigshow, I hear ya. I actually feel sorry for anyone who takes Statistics at my college, mainly nursing, psych or business majors. Almost always it’s the same professors teaching the class and they’re all horrible both in grading and teaching. Stats isn’t that hard compared to even precal and yet almost 3/4’ths of the people in the class end up dropping because of the crappy professors.

do you feel as though u can get an A in the class? I mean u had to post this question on here, which means ur already doubting urself and ur either looking for confirmation or reassurance, if you dont urself, then it’s prolly best to drop the class, unless u feel u can make a turnaround

There has been many times where I was really close to getting a B, but I just worked harder. I thought about dropping classes but I never did. If you put your mind to it, you can do pretty much anything.

wow cool calculator. ive always had to do it by hand but i forgot how recently. my school has horrible calculus and stat teachers who teach again and again and again =(

@moving maybe read ratemyprofessor to see how it is to help you decide?

AngryStudent13: i actually did before enrolling into the class…almost 99 percent of the raters gave her a 5

also my college’s max unit is 16 per semester but my friend is saying his college is 18…is this possible?

@moving

you can take more than 16 units at my school. but you just have to get approval from a counselor.
