I'm looking to transfer to another university this year, and I've already sent numerous transfer applications, all of which indicate that I am enrolled in 5 courses.
Right now, I am enrolled in a course in which I am doing poorly. I got a 60 on the first midterm, which is worth 40% of the final grade (the class average was 63). The course is difficult, and my professor seems to think that the worst I will get is a low B.
I'm in my second year, and right now I have all A's. I'm worried that I might get a C in this course. Were I to drop this course, I would still be in 4 courses. Should I drop this course to protect my GPA, or would the W be worse than the B or even C that I might end up getting.
In the event that I do drop this course, do I have to notify the schools to which I am applying?
Thanks in advance.

well considering it’s only your first exam, i wouldn’t drop it yet. also, did your professor say you could get an A?

^Assuming nothing is over-weighted/curved (or EC’s) the highest he can get is an 84%. I’m confused on the “… and my professor seems to think that the worst I will get is a low B” is he implying that he’ll curve the grades or did he mean to say the highest you can possibly get is a low B which is what your non-curved grade would be assuming you aced everything else.
