I have a unique situation for my high school career and I wanted to e-mail some of the admissions people for the colleges that I'm interested in and ask how they'd view me as an applicant because of this unique situation.

Should I do this or will it make me look desperate/hurt my reputation with the college? I'm just really worried and I want to know that the situation is not something that's not going to hurt me.

Really depends on the situation. If you feel comfortable posting it on here, then maybe some people on CC could give their own insights.

I don’t want to post it because I feel like it might invade my privacy/reveal my real-life identity, but it involves a unique approach I took to my high school career.

Well, first talk to your school counselor or someone else you trust who is reasonably knowledgeable with the college process and see what they say. If that doesn’t work, then try calling the admissions office at the colleges. Just remember though that many colleges have students working at the admissions office and they may not be able to answer your question if it is super unusual. It is likely they would give you a very vague answer in that case like “We look at all applicants hollistically” or something like that that will basically leave your question unanswered.
