Should I email Admissions about this stuff?

I got 2 Cs in Algebra during middle school and after reading UF’s FAQ I just realized that I have to report them on my SSAR since they were classes attempted for high school credit.

Do you think I should email the Office of Admissions asking if they care less about middle school grades or is it a rude/nosy question to ask? I just don’t want to give off any bad vibes :frowning:

I think you should just in case, I highly doubt they would rescind your admission if it was an honest mistake and especially if you come forward now. It’s better and waiting until they see it on your high school transcript eventually anyways. If it’s on your transcript then they care and they will see it. They respond really quickly through their freshman admissions email though! I don’t think it’s a rude or nosy question at all. I have probably emailed them about like 6 different occasions over the course of a year, it’s their job to answer any questions like that.

@madisonskipper Well, I’m still a Junior so it’s not like I didn’t report it and they accepted me anyways. My main concern is that those middle school grades will hurt my application, so I wanted to email them asking if they considered academic classes in middle school to be academically equal to high school courses taken in high school. Basically what I hope they say is “Oh, we just wanted you to report those middle school grades so we could see that you took the course.” I only mentioned the nosy/annoying thing because when I was in middle school and applying for the magnet program at my high school, I sent a similar email to the administrator dealing with admissions and they replied saying that it was none of my business, so I don’t really know if this would cross boundaries as well. After that I’ve been wary of emailing teachers.

Also, it’s because at my school everyone says that UF hates C’s and it is significantly harder to get into if you get one. If this does happen to be true, I really hope they do consider the fact that I was only in middle school. I had this insanely tough Algebra teacher back then and a lot of my friends ended up getting at least 1 C in the class. It wouldn’t make sense for them to reject me over that considering that I’ve shown some improvement in classes like Alg 2, PreCalc, AP Calc (Straight B’s lmao), but you never know.

@sushipanda Something that I should’ve mentioned first: I got a C in my first semester of Algebra 1 in middle school too! I was in the pre-IB program and it was a requirement but I did report it on my SSAR and I was still accepted for Fall 2017. I was worried about my C for a while too but my grades showed an upward trend overall. It was my only C but I did have about 6 B’s total from 8th - 10th grade, after that it was all A’s. I think what worked for me was that my junior year I worked my living butt off. I did AP stats, AP physics, AP langauge, DE calculus, DE chemistry, and DE comm 2 all in one semester and managed A’s on top of waitressing. Imo, junior year matters the most. On another note, my senior year is pretty easy and I reported all that too. I think a C isn’t going to hurt you as long as you have a competitive weighted UF GPA , so you should still report it.

However, after that C in Algebra 1, I got A’s in all the rest of my math courses from that moment forward. There is a section on the SSAR that specifies you were in middle school when you took the class, so they will definitely consider that.
