Should I email the admissions reps in my area? Or is it overkill?

Hey guys,

So I recently got a couple of awards in track and field

All-County
All-Conference
Qualified for the state championship

When I told my guidance counselor, she insisted she call my top four schools and update them on my awards and also just speak good things about me. Since she’s doing this, can I still email the rep myself and update them? How should I formulate the email? My friend told me it’s a good idea to update them on the awards and also tell them why you’re a good candidate for the school.

The four schools are

Johns Hopkins
WashU
UPenn
Cornell

I have been in contact with the Johns Hopkins coach and will definitely run track there if I’m accepted. Thank you everyone!

Anyone?

Your local rep may at this point be totally out of the loop. Your guidance counselor had the right idea.

Honestly, if your GC is calling with the update, it will get to the people reviewing your file. Do it if you want, but be very concise, as they are busy and likely already have the info.

Okay, thanks so much guys. I’ll send a concise update, nothing too extra
