Definitely apply. If you are instate I would think that you would be accepted (even though not top ten percent.) It is certainly worth a shot! :)

Honestly, you're class rank, which puts you in the top 21% (I just calculated it), and you're middle-range test scores will be to your disadvantage. BUT that fact that you're instate and have so many AP's will be in your favor. I can't guarantee you get into your first-choice major (any engineering is EXTREMELY competitive), but I would say you have a good shot at Liberal Arts.

Now, I'm by no means an admissions counselor (but I'm accepted into McCombs and Plan II EC, and am already enrolled for Fall 2007), but there seems to be a pretty straightforward trend in admissions. I do think you have a good shot, so most definitely apply.

Good luck!

I had a friend who got in engineering with a 3.9 out of 4.8ish (5.0 really, but nobody can get that) and an SAT score of ~1700. I don't think her essays were very good, and her ECs were limited. So I think you've got a shot.

Apply, but dont expect to get in. My stats were eerily similar to yours and I got CAPed. I was top 20% at a small competitive private school, and had 670 W 630 math, 800 W.
