Should I even apply? Please help me.

Yes ‘self-studying’ is the term that is used here.

Great. I will look into it.

OP - Please make sure you can afford these schools. You said your Mom owns a real estate business that you have worked for. Owning a business makes determining financial need difficult. Just because you want to spend only between $80-100K doesn’t mean that is what the schools will think you can afford and even if it did that doesn’t mean the schools will meet your need.

For the above (#42), you will need to access the Net Price Calculators for colleges of interest.

As far as I know, NPCs unfortunately don’t work for international students. Does anyone have experience with it working? It would be very helpful for me too if NPCs worked.

They don’t work in that they don’t give a precise number, but if you click “US permanent resident/citizen” and fill out everything else you’ll have an idea of the minimum expected in the best case scenario and thus whether the minimum expected is affordable for you.

Agree the NPC will give you a realistic minimum. Some schools won’t give aid to an international student but it would help to know what they even think a US student in your financial situation could pay. If your budget is $25k a year and the NPC expects a US student to pay $50K a year, you should expect them to think you should pay at least that or more.

US schools are not going to subsidize your education if they feel your Mom owns a business and can afford to pay. Plus please keep in mind if you have been earning money for the past two years, they will take into account your income too.

Ok I will run the NPC for all schools that I am considering. Thanks everyone.

Are you sure you will be able to sit A levels in January? I thought they only offered GCSE resits then.
