Should I even apply to...?

Hey,

I'm a senior applying to several colleges, but am not sure on whether I should I apply to UC Berkeley or UC Santa Barbara? My reason for this is that I have an interest in neurology, NOT neuroscience, and UCSB and UCB both have neurobiology sections of their molec and cellular bio majors. My overall interest though is chemical and biomolecular engineering. I don't know if it's worth applying to UCSB or UCB at all?

Currently, I am applying to:
State Universities
1. UF
2. FSU
3. UCF
4. U of Miami
Out-of-state Universities:
5. Johns Hopkins U (MY FAVORITE)
6. Vanderbilt U
7. UColorado Boulder
***8. UC Santa Barbara or Berkeley or NONE

Any recommendations? I, right now, would like to drop both UC schools.
I currently conduct my own research at a local university, which may give me an admissions "boost" for Berkeley? I heard that Berkeley actually isn't as "wow" as a school. It depends on the major apparently.

If you’re competitive for JHU, you’re competitive for Berkeley and UCSB.

What’s your file like anyway?

I am in the IB Program, taking HL Chem, History, and English, and SL Spanish, Music, and Mathematics. I have taken AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Lit, AP Lang, AP World History, AP Psychology, AP Calc AB (unfortunately not Calc BC), AP Spanish Lit. I got 4’s and 5’s on the exams. I have a 4.3 weighted GPA. I conduct research at my local university. My research applies the organic chemistry I am learning from my orgo chem class and the biology I learned previously in high school. I hope to present my research at the Intel Science Fair. I also have my own Neurology club at school. I play several instruments, but was in band for only one year.
