Should I even apply?

I really like McGill, it seems like a great school but it seems like I'm below what they accept so I'm wondering if I should even apply.

Out of State (US-Minnesota)
GPA: 3.5 Unweighted
Have taken lots of APs and higher level classes, and 5 AP tests
ACT: 30 Composite
SAT: 1950 total (650CR,670M,630W)
Extra Curriculars:
- cross country 4 years- varsity 3- captain 2
- track 4 years- varsity 3- captain 2
- hockey 3 years
- green team 1 year
- SO MUCH volunteering (100+ hours easy)

I'm not a minority or first generation.

Do I have a chance?

Your GPA could be a bit higher, but other than that your stats are pretty good. I’d definitely still apply.

Yeah I’ve always taken the hardest classes, my school is really competitive. I’m only ranked like top 33% because there are so many smart kids at my school.

Agreed with IAmPOS. Your chance of getting in depends on which faculty you’re applying to as well. Make sure you meet all the minimum requirements for the faculty you’re applying to ([Admissions standards (US)](http://www.mcgill.ca/applying/standards/unitedstates/))

And while your extracurriculars are good, Mcgill, well, isn’t interested. They don’t ask for them on the application.

I see. Well I’m undecided so I’d be applying into the Arts and Science faculty. And my ACT is good enough for that. Thanks for the info!

Art and Science is the hardest to get into fyi

hey, your stats is good enough.

DON"T apply to Arts and Science. The faculty is not anything new, it simply offers a lesser form of whatever majors there are in arts combined with a lesser form of a major in science.

Most of the time if you want to double major, you can do that either in Arts or Science. But don’t do Arts and Science. It is one of those things that sounds good but will screw you over when you come here and realize what it is.

Well I’m super undecided, so any suggestions as to where I should apply?? Arts and Sciences just seemed like the most general one…
