Should I even apply?

Basically I have a 3.4 gpa, 2000 sat, urm status, and I also live in georgia. If I got into oxford, which I think I might have a decent chance of achieving, I could never see myself going there. At the main campus I know my chances are even slimmer, however I do plan on getting at least a 2100 on the next sat and emory does superscote.

if ur dont see urself going why would u apply?

Sorry it wouldn’t let me finish the last post. I couldn’t see myself at oxford, however I could see myself at emory, and ideally I’m shooting for a 2200 or greater. So do you suggest applying to both or just emory? Like I guess what I’m trying to say is that if I could send it to both without my acceptance at oxford changing my decision at emory, I would send it to both however I feel as if it would affect the emory decision. I guess just as a morale booster come April if I can say that I got accepted into oxford.

well i didnt see myself at oxford either so i applied just to emory. but its ur decision. isnt it past the deadline tho??? id say go with just emory (ull have to unnecessarily add details about oxford in ur supplemental essay if u choose both) becoz u say ur dont see urself there. but if oxfords lik ur safety then go for it. sorry if im rambling its 6am and i havent slept.
also, since u say ur frm GA, how is emorys campus/ppl…

If you can’t see yourself at Oxford, don’t apply. There are plenty of great schools like Emory that would gladly accept you with your current stats. I’m assuming you’re a junior, which means you have another two semesters, plus a summer, to get your GPA/SATs up. If you can manage As in almost all of your classes from here on out, apply. It’ll be a reach, but not an impossible one.

@whenhen im guessing OP is a senior

Dude you need to get some sleep! I ended up applying to both of them, not sure why. I guess since they said it has no bearing although I’m still a bit skeptical, but we’ll see. The campus is really nice you will love it, as for the people I didn’t really talk to any students. As for georgia and the people in general, Georgia is like nothing spectacular but it has it’s pluses like nice tourist places such as the Georgia Aquariam and the likes. Downtown is pretty nice so you will like emory. As for the people, well it just depends on who you’re with. At my school there’s some racists but most are alright and pretty nice, like in general you will meet nice people.

1030 am and i havent slept yet lol. gonna try and pull thru today… been 26 hrs since i was asleep :)

best of luck with ur application btw

Oh thanks whenhen for the encouragement! Yes I am a senior unfortunately, and wow you’re right I probably shouldn’t have applied to oxford in hindsight. Thanks a lot though and I have some other schools so we will see, wish both of you guys the best of luck!

Haha you should probs go to sleep man, I hate all nighters. I myself am running on 3 hours of sleep so I’m about to go to sleep myself, see you later dude.

What are you talking about in post #7? Why are you describing Georgia? I thought that you were from the state.

Jrswish asked me what georgia is like so I told him what it is in my opinion trey.
