  1. I know my ecs are weak I didn’t start a business or cure cancer or something.
  2. I know I haven’t tested yet, but if I am going to apply, I need to know before the test results come out in January.

Why??
You’re only a junior.
IF get 800 on the math subject test and at least 790 on the math part of the SAT then sure go ahead and apply

@menloparkmom I feel like I will not be challenged as much in high school and would like to get out of my small town.

the 'WHY?" was in reference to you needing to apply before your test results can in in Jan.
KNOWING that those test results put you in range of the kind of scores Caltech wants to see is a better idea, than just getting it into your head that you HAVE to apply to Caltech, because you want to get out of your small town.
.

@menloparkmom I had the misconception that I would not see my December scores until January, but that is not the case and I should know if my scores are in range before I apply. Thanks for your help!

WAIT. …
you’re not planning on taking tests in DEC of your SR YEAR, are you??
Dont do that! Take them well in advance- like at the end of your Jr year.

Listen to Menloparkmom and take the SAts ASAP. My so used his sophomore scores to apply as a junior.

Actual results: SAT: 1490 Total 790 M 700 EBRW
Subject tests: Math and Chemistry TBD
I know this means I have a 0% chance of getting in, but I thought I would post my real scores to reduce confusion and to prove that I was way in over my head when I applied.

Yo @KG5APR are you ill? That score definitely qualifies you. If you get rejected, it will certainly not be because of your stellar sat score. What will get you rejected is an application lacking sincerity and honesty. I was rejected today early action, but I didn’t put my full honesty into the essays. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Don’t write something you think they want to hear because I promise you there is nothing more they’d rather hear then your personal story and anything genuine you write. Best of luck
