i got of to a pretty slow start in hs and my freshman year gpa and 1st semester sophomore year grades were pretty poor. however since then my gpa has been steadily increasing:

freshman:3.3, 3.5
sophomore:3.2, 3.8
junior: 4.3, 4.4
total weighted gpa after junior year: 3.73
uw: 3.5
estimated gpa first semester senior year: 4.3

i am in almost all honors classes, have a 2100 sat, 32 act, and have decent ec's (200+ hrs volunteering at hospital, 50+ hrs shadowing a doctor, varsity tennis, all suburban jazz saxophonist). however im in like the top 25% of my class now and should be top 20% after first semester.

Are you planning to do premed? If so, I take it you're applying to either the College or NHS. Either one is relatively hard to get into because the school itself is Georgetown (sorry, I just love saying that name), and your class rank definitely doesn't help. I'd say it's NHS may (if you rise in rank and do well on SAT II's) be a match for you, but I'm thinking the College is definitely a reach. Good Luck!

You're in an incredibly similar situation that I am in (except for differences in standardized tests and career paths). I'm applying RD to Georgetown College because, although I would have a higher % chance of being admitted to Georgetown under the EA, I gain the opportunity to rise rank, GPA, and ECs. This is what I'm doing, and I think that it's a pretty wise decision. I think I read on Georgetown's website that it mentioned to send in your application at it's strongest level rather than applying earlier. (It would seem to me that you're just trying to raise the %ages without putting forth the extra effort for three more months of senior year.
