an Ivy...

I think it depends on two things: If you are a freshman, your high school scores/gpa; and your current school. It is relatively easy to get A’s at some colleges, extremely difficult to get A’s at others. I suspect ivy transfer counselors are familiar with the grade-reputations at other schools. As with freshman applications, there is never a sure way to know — but it may be more difficult as a transfer, simply because there are fewer spots. You can see the ivy transfer rates on other threads, which will give you some idea of just how difficult transfers are at a given school.

Bottom line is that your gpa is what it is. If you want to try to transfer to an ivy, go for it. Don’t count on it, though (always good advice!).
