Should I even apply??

<p>I really don't know whether I'd be strong enough to be considered for Columbia, I told myself that if I got a 2150 on my SAT's, then I'd apply. I ended up getting a 2140, so I don't know whether or not I should attempt it.</p>

<p>I think you should. An 800 verbal is not as common as say, 800 math. That, and you’ve got a healthy list of leadership and speech accomplishments to go with it. Sure, your math/science achievements aren’t up there, but you’re applying as a potential IR (which @ Columbia is basically poli sci) major, not an engineering student. Give it a shot.</p>

<p>I doubt Columbia is that number oriented. Apply and hope for the best, It’s not like your unqualified, with the stats you mentioned. </p>

<p>Now If you had less than a 2.0 GPA and no reason for it/ nothing to show I’d say don’t waste your time filling the application and wasting the money.</p>

<p>I don’t think colleges do some magic number calculations on your SATs but if you’re really worried you might be able to retake? Then tell them that new scores are coming. I don’t think this is necessary and studying for the SATs might detract from your application. So only if you had a bad day taking it.</p>

<p>dude my frined got in and he had low gpa and was rank 8 and in just a few ec’s. his essays were Pretty good so yeah apply.</p>
