Should I Even Attempt to Transfer?

Want to transfer to a school that has more on-campus recruiting. I would be applying for fall 2011 admission as a sophomore to Ivies/pseudo-Ivies.

Stats:
HS GPA: 3.9
Rank: top 1%
SAT: >2300

School: UNC Chapel Hill
GPA: 3.7
ECs: quite a few related to major with good involvement and leadership

Other things: Did internship related to my major summer 2010, Natl AP Scholar, various other awards/honors

Didn't get into any of my top choices after HS. As a freshman in college, I believe I've gotten more involved in ECs and demonstrated leadership ability. Also, the internship that I did summer 2010 would be a plus. However, my GPA of 3.7 is lower than I hoped for, and it might negatively affect me.

So, should I attempt to transfer?

Yeah I think you should. If you could bring the GPA to a 3.8 then I think you should be set.

Yeah go for it! I think you have a pretty good shot at some of the ivies, especially Cornell and UPenn. You should also consider schools that are peers to ivies such as WUSTL, Emory, Northwestern, and Vanderbilt. As a safety perhaps UMich. Plus by you transferring maybe you’ll open up a spot for me at UNC! Good luck!
