Should I even bother applying to UC's?

I'm a California community college student looking to transfer for Fall 2015. I have a 2.96 gpa, and will be able to finish my IGETC courses by the end of Spring if I decide to take the UC route. Otherwise, I will not do IGETC and could still apply to CSU (San Jose State, Long Beach State). I'm not eligible for TAG, but I can still apply for regular admission. Only UC's I would want to transfer to is UC Davis (Top choice) and UC Santa Cruz. Or should I just go into CSU? I want to major in Business Finance/Managerial Economics

Ps. UC gpa is 2.79 right now

bump

Each campus has a minimum GPA according to major but overall, they recommend a 2.8 from transfers:
<a href=“Transfer Application Tips”>http://admissions.ucdavis.edu/admission/transfers/tr_selection_process.cfm

http://admissions.ucsc.edu/apply/transfer-students/ indicates that a 2.40 GPA is the minimum for UCSC, but higher GPAs are more competitive, and there are major-specific grade requirements as well. According to http://admissions.ucsc.edu/apply/transfer-students/major-prep.html#econ , for all economics majors, the minimum GPA in economics and math courses is 2.80, with a minimum grade of C (2.00) in each course. Of course, the minimums may not be sufficient for admission if many other stronger applicants apply the same year.

Should i even bother applying or just apply to csu? @ucbalumnus‌ @aunt bea

Yes, apply, it doesn’t hurt to try.
