Do I stand a chance...at all? Thanks

Bump, this means a lot to me!

Ehhhhhh it’s hard to say. Your GPA and SAT aren’t gonna look too hot in Vandy’s eyes, but it’s really hard to tell with schools at this level. You might be just what they’re looking for. I don’t want to discourage you from applying (I don’t think that’s beneficial in any way lol. If you like it go for it), but I would say you have probably a 25% chance maybe. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take though…your call.

Just apply, but don’t count on it. I think that if you have the time and the money, you should just apply to all the colleges that you are interested. Can you take the SAT again by any chance? If so, just work really hard on it and try to get a score in the ballpark of 2200.

Wow, you really think I can increase that much? That would be amazing!
I have the hardest time on CR, because I’m a slow reader. If it weren’t timed I could easily have above a 700, which I’ve proven by taking practice tests out of the blue book. What should I do?

Oh and what if I apply as a transfer?

I would suggest reading daily journals like the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal to help you on your CR, since these journals emphasize the purpose of paragraphs (just like the SAT critical reading). I find CR to be the hardest section as well, primarily because English is my second language. If you can’t see yourself increasing that much, then try the ACT. I don’t really know anything about transfer admissions :(

There’s definitely a shot. However, last year my brother was wait-listed with a 3.98/4.72 GPA and 34 ACT. It was most likely because he applied regular decision and Vandy is MUCH easier to get into early decision. My bestfriend got in with a 3.8/4.4 and a 2180 SAT early decision this year so I wouldn’t say its not worth the application. You would’ve had about a 20% chance early decision… but now its down to around 10%… worth the app if you really wanna go there. You have impressive non-academic elements/ E.C.'s and that might really catch the university’s eye

@thelizzardking17 it’s possible, to do 200+ sat increase, but u need to put in like 1 hour a day. For the cr, practice reading until u get to about 3 seconds per line. Remember to skim it the first time, because your going to have to come back anyway to answer the question (context), and before u do any of the questions pre-mark the lines they are in. Pre-marking provides a tool to save time. For example if clairvoyant was a vocab word in line 15 of the passage, it would be much easier to find it if u pre-marked it.

Seeing as you don’t have any leadership, I’d say it’s going to be very tough.

Chance me! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1597663-claremont-mckenna-chances.html

You certainly have a chance. This year, everyone in my school that applied (4-5 people) got in and I would say 2 of them had similar scores to you, so you really never know with vandy

If you never try you’ll never know! Give it a shot-don’t give up on your dreams. You seem really dedicated to the nursing home and to your astronomy club and those could never hurt.
