Any other suggestions for colleges? Is there any chance I could receive scholarship at some of these schools?

Hi @strikers10 You definitely have some solid academic credentials and extracurricular activities. You also have a very nice list of schools going, too. With the exception of Christopher Newport University, I have friends at all of those schools, so I’m fairly familiar with them. You shouldn’t have any trouble getting accepted to Loyola, Elon, Christopher Newport, Quinnipiac, or High Point. American University’s acceptance rate has gone down almost twenty-five percentage points over the last few years, so that’s anyone’s guess, but the folks over on that forum might know more. With that said, U Richmond and Wake are both going to be harder to get into, but not impossible.

As for adding schools to your list, I’m not sure you need any others as long as you are satisfied with the list you put above. By all means, you’re looking at some wonderful schools. My only reccomendation would be this: apply ED to Wake, but take advantage of their rolling ED process. If you can get your application to Wake by September 15, you could still apply ED1 to Richmond if Wake doesn’t accept you. Then, in theory, you could apply ED2 to another school. This way, you maximize your chances of getting accepted to schools. The only caveat is that you know Wake Forest and University of Richmond are what you want.

Best of luck, and if you have any other questions, please let me know!

That “ton of yard work” will definitely put you over the top.

@Muad_dib thats what I was thinking

@wufan thanks for the feedback. Wake Forest was definitely my favorite school. I’m going to try to focus over the summer to get my ACT score up and hopefully my GPA up slightly. I am also in training to become an EMT so hopefully that will be something else I can put on my resume. I’m going back to American University and if I really like it that could become where I spend my ED 2. Thanks again.

You might also look at Sewanee. I think I read that they have an on campus EMT program. They would like that you are doing that already.

Hi, Wake Forest is my first college choice and I want to apply early decision for it. I was thinking about not doing the interview for wake forest and just applying early decision. I have already started the application process for wake forest on common app. I was just wondering if I don’t do the interview will it hurt my chances? Is the interview really required for wake forest? Can I still get by applying early decision without the interview?

I read on the website that an interview is required for ED. By daughter has your exact stats and she wonders if she has a chance ED. I know kids from her older brother’s school got in with lower stats than you and my daughter, but that was 2 years ago.

Sorry, just saw this. As previously mentioned, Wake and Richmond would be very tough and not realistic potential for merit aid. If you like Wake, you might be quite interested in Elon. S goes to Wake and while visiting for parents weekend, we took a short drive to Elon to check it out (D is interested in their musical theater program). Very beautiful campus. Understand they have a good accounting program highly ranked in NC. Not that familiar with anything else there. Less expensive than Wake too (by a lot - tuition is less and much higher percentage of scholarships awarded ).

With all of these schools, I highly recommend visiting. Some do it ahead of applying to see if they even want to apply. Others choose after acceptance to see if they would like it prior to committing. Either way, really important to get he feel of the place. We visited several (I think 14) and there were some that absolutely fell off the list as my son just didn’t like the atmosphere for whatever reason.

Always be optimistic.
