Should I even bother applying?

I'll make this really quick, columbia/harvard are my highest reach school and all my other schools are just UC's and USC. My problem, I will probably get my first C in any class (AP Calc) this semester of senior year so since they look at your senior transcript semester 1 I thought I would seriously have 0 shot at even being taken seriously with a C on my grades.

Quick resume:
Weighted GPA: 4.51 (Top 10% of class)
Unweighted: 3.77
ACT: 34
SAT2
Bio: 740
US: 740

Without boring you with my extracurriculars I just want to know if I should bother with a C in calc merely based off of my stats. My other 4 classes this year are AP and I will probably get straight A's in those classes though. So how detrimental can senior grades be, or more importantly a C in 1 class?

Thanks for the help.

^ Your def in range for both Harvard and Columbia, def apply. One C isnt gonna be the deciding factor of wheter you get in or not. Admissions is like a lottery game.

Yeah I agree. They don’t care so much about one class’s grades as your overall GPA, and yours is good. Your GPA combined with your high test scores should make you a competitive applicant at any school in the country.

Also, check out the mychances website. They have a really cool admissions calculator, and it’s pretty accurate. It’s a .net

Thanks guys that was pretty reassuring. I checked out the my chances website and it told me 20% for columbia. That’s way better than I was expecting and 11% for harvard. With those odds, I’ll buy my lottery ticket and hope!!!

You have only a 3.7 unweighted, but a 4.5 weighted? Wow. What do the top students at your school have, weighted 6.0’s? I wouldn’t panic too much about one C in your entire high school career, particularly if you’re not a math major. If you’re applying to SEAS, then I could understand the concern.

No pwoods, the top students at my school have a 4.8 weighted GPA. It’s because I have had straight honors and AP classes available to me since 9th grade that my weighted is such. I am not a math major, rather I am deciding to either go poly sci, physiology, or undeclared and I can’t decide which one would be better for my current situation knowing that my grades (particularly unweighted GPA and my potential C) puts me at rock bottom at these two colleges. Any help is appreciated greatly guys. Thanks so much and happy thanksgiving!
