Unlike the multitude of people wielding multiple 800s on this site, I am not so sure my SAT IIs are worth sending, mostly because of the score percentiles. Should I send these scores if I am applying EA?

World History: 800
Chemistry: 790
Math II: 780
Literature: 750

Okay. Last year, we didn’t have the choice of just sending SAT I scores. So I sent SAT II scores as well, since I had to send them with SAT I. I probably would have been fine just sending my ACT, but that’s 20/20 hindsight. Anyway, my SAT II scores were as follows:

Literature: 600
Spanish without Listening: 640
Math II: 730

And I got in. Granted, the rest of my application was fairly solid, but we have been speculating for a while now that UChicago doesn’t even waste its time looking at the scores.

Your scores are not crappy, but I can’t really say if they’re worth sending. Remember that the score percentiles don’t mean anything on SAT II scores, since people take only the ones where they think they’ll do well. An 800 on Math II is 88th percentile or something. So I guess I can just tell to you send them if you think your SAT I scores aren’t that hot, or if your GPA is lacking in these subjects for whatever reason. I don’t see how this would hurt your application, and it would probably actually help it.

Anyway, I’ve heard that anything above 750 is fantastic.
I took Math II, Chem, and Latin. Got 800/750/750. Got in. And Chicago doesn’t even really look at the SAT II scores. But they can’t hurt, and since you’ve done well on them, you should definitely send them in. Can’t hurt.

I wish I had the choice of choosing which scores to send. Wouldn’t that have been nice.
