Should I even bother submitting my SAT subject test scores?

I don’t know what happened but I totally bombed my SAT Subject Tests. I applied SCEA to Yale so it’s not like I can retake my tests. I got a 740 in Biology M, 700 in Math 2, and 640 in Literature. It’s just so weird because I did so well on my SAT but I did so poorly on the subject tests. I’m thinking that I just shouldn’t report any scores, even though they recommend them. So disappointing.

@seagreensoul - you can still re-take them for your RD applications. Try taking two, instead of three, in your strongest subjects. Best of luck!

@seagreensoul: Any SAT Subject Test score from 700 and above you should feel comfortable submitting, so submit the 740 in in Biology M, and the 700 in Math 2! (If you are rejected from Yale, trust me, it will NOT be because your SAT scores are not high enough.)

@zoebrittany I have a 1530 on the SAT and was thinking about retaking the SAT in December, which means I won’t have a chance to retake any subject tests for RD. Do you think retaking the SAT or SAT Subject Tests are more important?

@seagreensoul - Since you submitted your application SCEA, why do you want to re-take the SAT? But if you think you can get your score up to a 1550+ on the December test, then that is probably a better use of your time than re-taking the subject tests. Or just leave the tests alone and focus on your applications, which would be the way I’d go. But I really need more information about you in order to be helpful, so I will PM you.

I know subject test scores are not required, but I have a good score on only one. Should I submit only one or none at all?

Yale doesn’t specify a number. Depending on what you want to do, the 700 M2 might be ok as well. Two subject tests would be plenty!

Send the 700 and the 740.
