Should I even bother with my Low Regents Scores?

Hello. I’ve never posted before but I’m a bit stressed out because of my low scores on my Regents Exams. I’m hoping to go to a SUNY school, which is why this has become an issue. The Regent scores I have thus far is 72, 80, 78, 65, 92, 73, 78, 92 and 98. The 65 is the only horrid grade I have, but I feel like my already low scores will result in being denied. My general average is an 83.68, and I’ve passed all my classes. The scores range back and forth with mostly 85’s and 84’s. My worst class grade being a 68 from Freshman year. Most of the bad grades I have gotten are from Math. Which is the main reason I ask this question.

I’m looking to get a Journalism or Communications Major. And I’ve been looking into colleges like Oswego, Plattsburgh, Albany and Buffalo. I suppose I’m just asking if I should be worried about acceptance into any of these colleges because of my exam grades?

Did you attempt to study and retake any of the exams?

No. (Yes I know that was stupid.) For the most part I was told to by my counselor to just pass and I’ll do fine. Which obviously isn’t the case…

buffalo could be tough, you probably have a shot at the others. Which scores were for which regents exams? If the lower grades were math, were they for the old versions or the new common core aligned versions?

Common Core Algebra 1- 72
Living Enviro- 80
Integrated Algebra- 78
Common Core Geometry- 65
Global History- 92
Geometry- 73
Phy set/ Earth Sci- 78
Us History (This was an AP Class, but this is the regents score)- 98
English- 92

I was part of the Guinea Pig class where they were first testing some of these exams, so I took both. Most of the Lower Grades were for Math (I’m terrible at math) my parents tell me I shouldn’t worry since I’m mainly looking at artsy schools (Plattsburgh is my first choice college)

What are your standardized test scores? If you did well on those, it could help.

My daughter was also part of the first group to take each of the new common core aligned regents for math.
My feeling would be that you are probably OK with at least a couple of SUNY schools but honestly, I would study and retake the math regents. At least the CC geometry. Is it too late to sign up for the August one? If it were me, I would breathe just a bit easier if I had above a 70.
Actually, it was me about 25 years ago, lol. I was also lopsided.
Are you an upcoming senior? Did you take algebra 2? Chemistry?
