should i even bother?

So I'm a sophomore at a very small high school. My Freshmen year GPA was around 3.6 3.65 with all honors classes besides Spanish, which was the lowest level. The second quarter (first semester) has just ended and I estimate my GPA to be between 3.2 and 3.35 except this time I take AP Chem., AP U.S. History, AP English, AP Latin, Honors Mathematics, and honors Spanish. My school also features the I.B program and I plan to take mostly I.B classes next year, and maybe even go for the diploma. As for extracurricular activities, I am on a rowing team in the spring and summer and I ski race in the winter. I have completed about 50-60 community service hours and expect to do have at least 160-180 by the end of my high school career and probably even more if I do the I.B Diploma Program. I took the P.S.A.T and scored above average on all three. Do I even have a chance of getting in to Dartmouth or any Ivy league school for that matter, and regardless if I do or I do not, where should I go from here?

Although your gpa is low, an upward trend can go a long way. I recommend taking hard classes and getting yourself up to a 4.0+ gpa weighted. Also, work hard on the sat to get around (hopefully above) 2100 and then you’ll be more competitive. I recommend taking summer classes at a community college/doing something your passionate about over the next few summers so that you have better ecs as well. Although it seems unlikely that you’d be accepted into an ivy with your current numbers, work hard, get more involved, and you might just get lucky.
