neone know of a person who got flat out rejected by stanford SCEA but got into princeton, penn, yale RD...cuz at this point i am about to give up and not submit any of them

While Yale and Princeton are in the same league as Stanford, Penn is easier to get in. I'd keep Penn.

actually, someone posted earlier that someone got rejected by stanford, but was begged by Princeton to attend their school

^ probably an athlete

Ive learned that college admissions are so arbitrary.

You cant stop applying to the other schools that you love.

where's the merit in this statement, so many more apps this year... 21% increase, it is by no means easier in rd

I was hoping that Penn's rise in the rankings pushed alot of people originally hesitating and contemplating RD into ED...?

Have hope! Read this thread, its about a guy who got rejected by Stanford and accepted by Harvard: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=17070&highlight=raven+harvard

don't give up. colleges are hard to predict in their admission process, i think.

i know of one who got rejected stanford SCEA and got accepted to yale.

penn rd is around 17%
yale rd is around 7%
princeton rd is around 9%

I have posted elsewhere because I am seriously perplexed not a troll that my friend got into her reach school Stanford (600's low 700's A- GPA few AP's nothing special great essays though) but no way she could get into Princeton Harvard or Yale. But maybe if you apply from the east coast to Calif it is way easier? Yale Havard Princeton in my opinion are the toughest Penn Cornell Brown and Columbia easier. Princeton and Havard being the toughest. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I think you are focusing too much on the "numbers". I have a friend who got into Yale with a 2020 SAT (non URM, non legacy, not great ecs). Top universities care about personal characteristics and other factors that are often not too obvious.

exactly, the "numbers" are just a factor, not the sole factor.

DO NOT GIVE UP.
There's a thread for u really. One kid on cc was rejected from columbia ED but got in princeton RD. let me find the thread.

here it is

I agree.. it's not like it hasn't happened before
anything is possible...
and I'm sure different schools look for different qualities and put emphasis on those that are most important to them

I just thought it was useful to know its good to try! I have two close friends one is going to Vanderbilt and one to Stanford almost the same scores, grades and great great personalities! They did not get too involved in high school life because they both dated boys at other schools so who knows the answer to the riddle of who gets in where.
