Should I even bother?

I'm wondering if I should even bother with applying to UGA. I want to go there so badly, but I doubt they'll take me.

GPA- 3.4 unweighted
AP's-2
Honors: 9
SAT: 2050 (perfect score on verbal)

EC's:

Lacrosse (2 years varsity, 2 JV), Spanish Club, FBLA, FCA, Kaliedoscope Peer Diversity and Mediation, Yearbook

I am also a URM.

i appreciate any help you can give me!

they will take you

you really think so? everyone has been telling me that my GPA sucks.

R U instate or OOS? IN state you are in. OOS no idea. Google UGA common data set to see what they take

I'm out of state, but its kind of a weird situation, because I went to a Georgia high school for three years, and my dad still lives there.....the admissions lady told me that the in state/OOS thing isnt all that important, but who knows?

http://www.oir.uga.edu/cds/ugacds04.pdf go here see page 10.

HS GPA and class rank matter a lot as does the rigor of you high school.

85% in top quarter of hs class. 97% with gpa higher than 3.0 uw.

Review the dataset. Write a killer essay and you should be good to go.

thanks so much for your help! I hope I get in.

First, I would be shocked if you did not get admitted, though you never know these days.

Second, as I read the policy (link below) you are eligible for GA residency. I would verify all of it with the admissions office, but if so you would apply as a resident, pay in state tuition, and even be eligible for HOPE. Again, do not take my word because these issues get complicated, but definitely spend some wuality time with the admissions folks on your status.

http://www.usg.edu/regents/policymanual/400.phtml

So the nxt step is yours. You need to apply asap and after reading the link above apply as instate if you qualify. But apply NOW don't wait

It seems as though UGA would be a safety for you really. I know people which much lower stats that have gotten in both early and regular in the past year.
