Hey guys, this is for my friend:
I’m planning on applying to the following schools regular decision:

  • Emory
  • Carnegie Mellon
  • Northwestern
  • UCLA
  • UC Berkeley
    *Not a California resident
    But… Here are my stats:
    GPA:
    • 5.14W
    • 3.74UW (I know this is pretty low for these schools, so should I even bother applying? Or would they throw out my application at first sight?)

… That’s pretty much it, but if it changes anything, there’s nothing below a “B” on my transcript, and there are no B’s my Junior Year, which shows an upward trend.
So, is there any chance I could get into these schools?

Yes, definitely apply your stats look amazing! The worst they can say is no, but it seems unlikely based on what you provided.

Thank you so much! I’m nervous that they’ll just throw out my application at first glance, because my unweighted GPA really sucks for those kinds of schools, and it’s actually really the only thing that’s holding me back, so I just wanted to be sure that I wouldn’t waste my time writing all those essays, or money on application fees just to be rejected.

All the schools you are applying to practice holistic admissions and as a result your application will not be thrown out based on unweighted GPA.

definitely apply, your gpa really isn’t horrible especially considering the fact that you took like 10 aps and you more than make up for it with the rest of your application. is your friend a senior? if so it is too late to apply to any of these schools unless he plans to take a gap year, or has (s)he already submitted applications?
