I had a family emergency. i couldnt submit my app tonight. i dont think i will ever stop being depressed. theres no hope right? no point in sending it on jan 2?

send it, and write a letter to let them know. but be more specific than ‘family emergency’, and in case this isn’t obvious, it had better have been a h### of an emergency. worst that could happen is they reject the app and you have 0% chance of getting in, which is what you have right now.

Send it by paper and don’t say anything. They have tens of thousands of pieces of mail coming in. You could realistically send your application 2-3 weeks late and chances are that they would never know.

Send it, and take to heart the lesson learned. See post #11 on this thread. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/443299-i-am-terrified.html

I checked my son’s status and Harvard has not received his teacher recommendations. My son sent emails to both teachers and one had not sent it due to a fire. The teacher is mailing it today. Should my son contact Harvard? Does he still have a chance? Is it too late?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

AMom2 - don’t worry. They are still opening envelopes. Colleges realize that sometimes teachers mess up or letters go astray.
