My goal has always been an ivy league or stanford, vanderbilt, etc. Should i even bother applying with these stats?
U/W GPA: 3.556
Weighted GPA: 4.499
SAT: 2170
ACT: 34 essay 11
SAT math 2: 790
SAT biology m: 700
I know there are other factors like ECs and the essay, but based on these numbers alone, do I even have a chance?

It is not likely with that GPA.

If you have really high high SAT and SAT II scores, and write some mind blowing essays, its a small possibility. But its still a possibility. Give it a shot.

Your 34 is great, your GPA not so much. Personally I would not apply with that GPA, they are all reaches.

I see thank you for all of the honest replies what would my chances be percentage-wise, if you are able to deduce such a thing? Also, could you match me with some schools that would match my scores please?

No one is saying you wont get it, they are saying it isnt likely but we also dont know everything else about you. Depending on where you are from your chances may be better than previous posters have thought. Course load is also a huge factor as well as ECs and essays which you mentioned.

Don’t misunderstand me those numbers are on the weak side for a lot of the top schools but people with those scores do get in occasionally. May as well try and hope for the best, as long as you are still applying to more realistic schools.

I’m not familiar with enough schools to really place you and i doubt anyone could give u a percentage with any degree of accuracy, especially with the limited information.

Goodluck!

I agree with B Blank. I would try. I would suggest giving your ACT and not your SAT, however, since if you look at a comparison chart, the ACT score is definitely higher. You did do the ACT with Writing (and not the ACT Without Writing), I hope? The selective schools pretty much all take the ACT or SAT (ie do NOT need an SAT), but they almost all want the ACT with Writing. I’m sure you are a fine writer, with that “11” on the SAT essay. If you have not taken the ACT With Writing, take it this fall! You really seem to excel more on the ACT. I agree w/ the others that your GPA is on the lower side for an Ivy, but it is worth trying. You can try to write a strong essay, get great letters, and take 2 SAT Subject Tests. You can submit your ACT With Writing and SAT Subject Tests without submitting the SAT (with the exception of a rare few schools that insist on getting every single score).

What is your class rank?
A good class rank can offset a low GPA.

Your chances are below average with that GPA.

If you don’t have a hook or a brilliant essay, don’t bother. Even with a great hook, it’s still very iffy.

Unweighted class rank is 47/309
Weighted class rank is 35/309
So yeah, class rank is a big negative also. My fears were pretty much just confirmed. I don’t think I’ll even bother haha. No great EC’s, no hooks, my biggest plus is my 34 ACT, and that’s average for an Ivy. Stupid sophomore year Thank you all for your input though.
