Thanks for wading through my post.
I appreciate your response =)

And I forgot:

Counselor Rec - excellent, I've known her for some time and she has always been very nice, and even promised me a spectacular recommendation.

Teacher Rec 1 - excellent, I hang out at her class whenever I can, we talk like as if we're colleagues more than as a student to a teacher.

Teacher Rec 2 - good, I don't hang out at her class or talk to her as much as teacher 1, but I'm pretty vocal in her class and she knows that I love history (what she teaches). I'm closer to her than most of my classmates.

Essays?

No idea. I will try to show my personality (very sociable) through the essays, and I will be writing in a less than formal tone. My writing is not bad, but hopefully my vigor and absurd sense of humor can shine through them!

yes, you should :)

^agreeed.
your sat score is rly good
do you know your rank?

Definitely consider ivies.

BTW, I love Occidental. Only LAC I'm considering:)

School doesn't rank.
But definitely top 10 percent (I go to a very rigorous high school...we send more students to USC than any other high school in the nation).
I think I should be in top 5.

You've definitely got a shot at the Ivys--plus you've got some great public target/safety schools. Just make sure you've got a few safeties you can absolutely get into and would enjoy going to (you may have listed those above but I don't know that much about UCs).

Keep up the good work and good luck! :)

If you are instate CA, then the UCs are safeties/matches for you, even for Berkeley.

Not to a be an (explicit deleted), but "I go to a very rigorous high school...we send more students to USC than any other high school in the nation" wut?

Well, according to a few people on CC, rank in school only counts on how prestigious your school is.
And since my high school sends many students to USC (a rather good college), I was just demonstrating its level of prestige.
Not up there with Exeter, but not too shabby either.

I didn't mean to showboat.

Your stats are competitive. Your high school academic is rising but there was naviance of your high school floating in the Parent Forum and not too many got into HYPS. Just to warn you.

You should definitely give the ivies a shot. Again, just make sure you have great back up colleges that you would go to if you do get denied.

Hmmm, can anyone give me some chances for HYPS?

You are competitive. Does that mean you will get into all, or even one of HYPS? Not necessarily. People with stats like yours get admitted, and people with stats like yours get rejected. You should, however, get into an excellent school as long as you include a reasonable range of choices in your list.

You're in the middle 50 (roughly) for HYPS and similar level schools. If you applied to three or four, you'd probably (on an average day), get into 1. On a good day (figuratively speaking), maybe 2. If you ED or SCEA, you boost your chances.

Eagle Scout. Impressive, well the great thing about that is that you can still put that on your resumes when your fifty I'm a Star Scout btw. I think you have solid chances everywhere especially HYPS.
