So I'm going to try my chances at some of the more transfer-friendly Ivies (e.g. Brown, UPenn) in a couple years. I'm currently looking at a 3.65 GPA first semester freshman year at UC Berkeley; if I am able to raise my cumulative GPA to 3.8 will I have at least a fighting chance at transferring successfully?

Here are further stats:
College--
GPA: 3.8 cumulative (projected)
E.C's: Philosophy Forum, religious/philosophical thought journal editor, amnesty international club officer
Volunteer Experience: Peer Review Board member (peer judicial system in the dorms that handles cases of misconduct among peers)

High School (will this even matter that much considering I'm planning on transfering as a third-year college student?)--
GPA: 3.9 unweighted
SAT: 2180 (M 670 / CR 720 / W 790)
PSAT National Merit Commended
E.C.'s: Speech and Debate co-captain, Student Council officer, Jefferson Awards Community Service club officer, National Honors Society membership, Model UN membership, Piano (have quite a few Certificates of Merit and a couple honorable mentions from recitals)
Volunteer Experience: Shift Leader at local hospital, lead attorney at a local Youth Court program

So how hopeless am I? Would I be able to ameliorate this hopelessness if I hypothetically acquired a research opportunity in psychology or philosophy? (I'm a philosophy major btw if the above data hasn't already implied such.) Much thanks to whoever can offer some words of advice!
