Should I even try to apply to a BS/MD program?

Hi everyone! So I've been interested in biology and medicine for as long as I can remember, so I've always been pretty sure that I wanted to become a physician. But, I know the BS/MD programs are super competitive, and I don't really know where I stand compared to other applicants. (I'm a junior)

^^^I know my extracurriculars aren't great, so maybe that will be a selling point?

If any of you are also applying, or know anything about the applicant pool for this, how do you think I'd compare? I'd really appreciate the input - thanks!

There is one BSc/MD you can scratch off your list: NWU HPME because you have no research.

Perhaps your home state has one BSc/MD, so please state what is your home state.

I live in IL

And is research a requirement for NWU? I wasn’t aware…

Research is not an explicit requirement but virtually every NWU HPME admit has some…

UIC GPPA: Reach (10% admit rate but it’s reachable)

Anyone else? c:

But, in the event you couldn’t get into UIC GPPA, would you be OK with attending UIC or UIUC regular?

I wouldn’t be “happy” per se, but if I don’t get into any, whatcha gonna do?

As long as I get into a place with a good pre-med program, I’m fine to be honest
